Hurray! I love riding my bike in Germany.

As mentioned: bought the bike in 2006 2^nd hand with 25000 km on it for 6250 euro and the first actual maintenance (besides oil/oil filter and refreshing cooling fluid) was a new chain (18th of March 2007):

Performed valve clearance check at 9^th of August 2007:

Only one value was just out of specification, namely cilinder 1, one of the exhaust ports with 40 um.
I trusted I made a measurement error and let it be.

Replaced fuel filter on 21^st of October 2008 (and resealed the rear cylinder head cover):

Installed a 'pro-oiler' on 26^th March 2007 after a group buy organized by the Dutch VFR Owners Club, which I regretted (oil on rear tyre, no go) and I removed after a year or so:

LOL, I remember going through my own "chain oiler" phase... The UK-made Scottoilers were all the rage back in the late 1980s, so I put one on my first VFR750 in 1990. I had the brilliant idea of cutting out the rear mudguard to allow the number plate to sit flush over the Scottoiler. It rarely worked properly, and oil all over the rear of the bike and a hacked up rear mudguard was all I had to show for my efforts... (The Scottoiler used vacuum to open the valve.) Fun times.

Have a cameleon brand on my’86, works quite well. They sell on eBay.ca & aren’t cheap, mine has been good for a dozen seasons & is very helpful in wet conditions. Will dirty white wheel but not terrible unless you adjust to run wide open flow rate

Demounted the fork tubes for their first service (under my care) around March 2008:
In my experience, a bit of an achilles of the VFR800 (5th gen). Quickly rusts due to damaged chrome layer due to road debris and probably also correlating with the 'sweating' of suspension fluid.

Scored a Nikko Racing high mount exhaust on June 2008, but it didn't stay on long:

Rear shock gave up on April 2007:
I forgot which company was so kind to fix it and add a nitrogen(?) filling point.
