Hi all!

I feel as though I know most of you already, but somebody has to kick off the "Introductions" section... 8-)

So, I'm a long-time American VFR owner, having started with a 1990 VFR750FL in 1990, the first one the local dealer sold (long-gone T&O Yamaha in Lomita, California) and culminating with a pair of 5th gens in yellow and blue. In between, I have sort of become a collector of 1990s Honda JDM sport bikes and the odd exotic Aprilia. I famously almost purchased an NR... :(

Back in the day I went on many long m/c trips around Europe, but I now spend a lot more time tinkering than actually riding. (I hope to change that soon--while I still can!)

These days I live mainly in London, UK and Leiden, NL, surrounded by my small family and large collection of motorcycles and unfinished projects.

Ciao,

JZH

Hi JZH. One day you have to tell the story of the "NR that got away".

Welcome JZH, nice to see you here!
I also seem to have missed the story on the NR you almost got. :o
That oval monster is an icon.

If you are currently in the Netherlands, there were some nice days lately to ride the VFR.

Yeah, well, it's nothing like Larry Lovisone's story about how he acquired "Mr. RC45" in Mexico... I was just too late. It was the early 2000s and I saw an ad for a full, German-spec NR for sale at a specialty car dealer in Germany (at the time I was living in another part of Germany): €40k. Could not believe it, but I'd studied NRs for years and I knew it was a full-power, 125 PS model (i.e., non-J spec 77PS, non-French 102 PS), and I could just manage to scrape together the cash and stay married (this last part was more theoretical). But work commitments meant I had to wait a week before I could drive over to see it, and by the time I did, it had been sold. I comfort myself by thinking that it was probably broken anyway! :D

Yes, the weather has been lovely in NL. I finally have an appointment for an RDW inspection of the yellow bike in mid-July, so hopefully I will be on the road later this summer.

Ciao,

JZH
