Vfr800fi 2000 plate owner- UK

Hi, I am sure I was on the other forum. However located this one. I own a blue vfr800 fi on a 2000 plate.

Good looking bike. I nearly bought an identical one a few years back when I was thinking about getting off superbikes, straightening my back and jumping back on a VFR. A 2000 5th gen looking the same as yours was available in Oxford. At the time Commander-in-Chief Home said NO. I've since grabbed an 8th gen and am very happy with it but I do miss the novelty and sound of gear driven cams.

Nice username and wondering why you selected it.

Interesting also to see the increased height of the handlebars, which also seem to lower the front end (since fork tubes stick out more above fork top bridge). That must give a lot of oversteer? How is the steering behavior when making a corner?

Those look like the classic Genmar riser plates, which raise the bars relative to the top clamp. Depending on how they are installed, they can also "raise" the forks at the same time. However. it used to be fairly standard VFR practice to raise the forks 10mm in the triples anyway, to liven up the bike's characteristically slow steering. Fitting Genmars can, therefore, kill two birds with one stone.

More than 10mm can start to create issues (not only handling, but also clearance under full braking). From the photo, it looks like the bike has been lowered by the full thickness of the risers, which is probably 12.7mm (1/2"), IIRC, but probably still okay.

Welcome ...good looking bike, it certainly look like you've made it yours
