hello, omgvfr

Sad news with vfrdiscussion. Had the same concern with the site in the prior year, as an active member of the VFRD/WILD headers buy. I still ended up visiting Darryl in person and picked those up. I have a 1999 model, serial #28. I’m now set up with DMR front forks. Have had the Ohlins out back with remote reservoir for years. There’s an additional .75” spacer on top for rear lift. SH847 regulator installed. While my bike is a CA model: I have swapped to the 49 state full lift cams and adjusted shims to compensate. Matched with PC3. The wheels are powder coated gold. New 8 spoke rear off a 1993 VFR. EBC rotors in front. Headlight modulator. 2000 mirrors. Sargent seat. Zero Gravity double bubble in smoke. High mount Remus pipe. DID gold x ring chain, 530 for now, will go 525 next time. Running a 15-44 sprocket. Throttle lock. Renthal kevlar grips. Sylvania LED turn signals, brake lights, digital flasher relay. Air horn. Tank grips. Water and waterwetter, 25% coolant. ProHonda HP4 oil. Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 shoes.

I’m sure there’s more. I’m constantly playing with the bike. I have many others, but this one is special. It’s my go-to commuter. I am very thankful to be introduced to VFR’s by the previous owner. I had a 1998 model, taken by collision. My 1999 model is the successor.

Willing to share any and all experience with these projects. It’s been a good time, and will be keeping it going. I’m located in the outskirts of LA. Santa Monica mountains are right there. I used to go more often. This bike was set up to runs laps at the Snake… and it did.

Welcome ... a photo would be awesome...

If you know Darryl, possibly let him know about this new site?

Hey Mello,
IMG_7949.jpeg
This photo has the 5 spoke present and old set of wheels with spray paint. I will get my new set with the 8 spoke back from the powdercoater in a few weeks. Will be sure to share photos of the setup.

Now that I am thinking more about the details of my bike:

Pair delete. Snorkel and Flapper are intact. Pipercross air filter. EBC HH brake pads. 49 state ECU with advanced ignition timing compared to CA model. Quick turn throttle from an R6. .85 kg/mm fork springs. AS3 black coolant hoses. SpeedoDRD healer. PC3 running individual maps per cylinder (attack). Oh yeah, and a shiny set of Mello pair plates! Thank you!

Next up, with parts already on the bench: Euro CBR600F3 left handlebar switch gear. The part is identical to a 5th gen, minus the markings. I bought this because it features a pass switch. I’ll be integrating this with the headlight modulator.

525 chain and sprockets will happen when they are ready for replacement.

There are other future projects in mind. One is the VTR fork lowers and related calipers, and delinking work.

I’ve got a few other bikes, they are getting some attention. However the VFR is here to stay.
