Fi light and engine stop

Post by maxredline »

To help populate this section it will broch a Fi light problems I have had in the past.

With a previous 5th gen I owned the bikes Fi light began to flicker, that was the first hint there was something wrong. There are a few reasons why this might happen. While I was investingating the bike continued to run without problems. Then the bikes engine would cut out and die out of the blue usually when coming up to stops or low revs. After 5 or so minutes the bike would restart. This hapened a few times and relized something needed to be done. I did some research and found a post by (Veffer Canuck on org VFRD) who had the same problem and came up with a fix which worked for me.

There is a ground block on the left side of the bike with quiet a few grounds joining together in one connection block. Some people have found the block burnt due to high resistance. Mine was just dirty. On my bike the block was wrapped in tape but was orange in colour. This block has two sides to it if you look closely. One side has more grounds than the other.
The fix is to sodier the connections together but the two sections seperately creating a better bond. I sodered them all together and it did not cause any problems but learnt afterwards the correcty way was to seperate the two before sodering into two blocks.
I no longer have pictures but some can be found on the web with file types not compatable with this post.
Just do it, time runs out.
